Harry Potter: Where it all began....

hmm... i still remember the first time my sister bought a Harry Potter book, it was the first books in the Harry Potter trilogy, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone". I was kind of skeptic at first, because the cover as quite childish to me.. so i thought maybe my sister bought the book for my kid sister... to my surprise it was for her.. she told me she read a review on the books and she thought to give it a try.. well.. ok ..i said.. it was your money.. So when my sister finished reading the book for the third time, i was quite shocked.. it kind of record breaking for her to read the same books second time around, let alone third time.. so then i began to read the book.. and i felt in love with Harry Potter ever since..

So who is this Harry Potter???? He is the main character created by i consider genius writer name J.K Rowling. In 1990, J. K. Rowling was on a crowded train from Manchester to London when the idea for Harry simply "popped" into her head. Rowling gives an account of the experience on her website saying:

" I had been writing almost continuously since the age of six but I had never been so excited about an idea before. [...] I simply sat and thought, for four (delayed train) hours, and all the details bubbled up in my brain, and this scrawny, black-haired, bespectacled boy who didn't know he was a wizard became more and more real to me."

Since the release of the first novel,Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone(retitled Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the US) in 1997, the books have gained immense popularity, critical acclaim and commercial success worldwide, spawning films, video games and assorted merchandise. The six books published to date have collectively sold more than 325 million copies and have been translated into more than 63 languages. The seventh and last book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows scheduled to be released on 21 July 2007 Publishers announced a record-breaking 12 million copies for the first print run in the US alone.

The first four books have been made into highly successful motion pictures by Warner Brother. The fifth, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, began filming in February 2006, and is scheduled for release on 13th July 2007.

I know that most Harry Potter fans including me cannot wait for the last books to be released... although the book marked as the end of the Harry Potter series.. Harry Potter will stay forever in the reader mind as the greatest hero of all time..... Long Live Harry Potter!!!
